Last week we had xrays of Asa's hips and pelvis made. We gave the disc to our physical therapist who showed them to a pediatric orthopedist. On Tuesday we had a PT evaluation for Asa with that same therapist. She said, "Dr. Weaver would like to see you at the clinic in October and she has set aside a very large block of time to visit with you. She is very concerned about what she sees on the films." Nice.
We mailed our application to Scottish Rite last Friday. It arrived on Tuesday morning. Nancy (the PT) asked us if we would have our pediatrician, Dr. Reese, call Scottish Rite to see if they would expedite our application. She really wants Asa to be seen very soon.
And at this point my concern for Asa's hip and his future turned into downright anxiety and my being close to tears thinking about what all of this might mean for our sweet boy.
On Tuesday, after the PT eval I took Asa for his first round of "catch up" vaccinations. He got five shots :( And screamed like we had cut off his leg. Poor baby. But a sucker made it all better and he has not even run a hint of a fever! I talked to the nurse then about having Dr. Reese call Scottish Rite. Mandy said that she would pass along the message but that Dr. Reese would not be back in the office until Wednesday.
On Wednesday I get a call from Dr. Reese herself. She asked me exactly what I needed her to do. I told her that Nancy (the PT) was very concerned, that Dr. Weaver was very concerned. "Could you call Scottish Rite and see if they can see him as soon as possible?" She said she would try but honestly didn't hold out much hope of having any influence.
An hour later Dr. Reese called me back. She said, "Scottish Rite said that they would call you with an appt time but they didn't say when." I told her thank you for calling and went on with my day. I posted a prayer request on Facebook in regards to getting the appointment sooner rather than later.
At 2:45 pm, about two hours after Dr. Reese had talked to them, Scottish Rite called and asked if we could be there this Monday! What a miracle!!! Oh we are so thankful to have that appointment so soon and hopefully we will start to get some answers about his condition, a treatment plan and some kind of prognosis.
I still worry about what the road ahead looks like, but I have to remind myself that God has gone before us and He will walk faithfully by our side no matter what we have to face. He has brought Asa here and He will take care of this little boy and all that he needs. We pray for the strength to be a strong refuge for our little boy.
So glad you were able to get in sooner with the help of the dr. We see Dr Woods at the same practice, maybe one day we will run into you there. Your days sound busy and full, glad all worked out.
ReplyDeleteKathy, is there a particular day that you come into town? Maybe we can meet at Chick Fil A and the kids can play and we can visit? I am good for that most days.
