The last of our dossier documents is to be mailed to Austin tomorrow. I will have our complete, apostilled dossier in my hands on Monday afternoon! Our agency says that the translations of the PDFs of the dossier will be complete at the end of this week.
I will overnight our dossier to our agency next Monday. She will have it Tuesday, translations should be finished, so our dossier will be ready to ship to K-stan.
We just have to be prepared to choose an agency. Our agency is still hoping to hear something this week about their accreditation. Despite many of us asking, they still will not give us any statement on fees. Frustrating to say the least. And we continue to hear frustrating things about the "other" agency we would be forced to use. Please continue to pray for wisdom and clarity about this issue. We do not want to wait once our dossier is ready to go, but we do not want to sign with an agency that is unethical.
We are so blessed by all of the donations to our adoption fund. As of last Friday, we are half way to our goal of $30,000. Since agencies are now backpedaling about the "low/no fees" they had been saying would be the case for waiting families, we are not sure how much we are going to need to complete this adoption. We do not know how much in agency fees we'll be expected to pay, how many trips we'll have to make, or how much our in-country costs will be. We do know that God will provide and that we have to trust Him in this.
We are gearing up to have a garage sale and a brisket dinner later this spring. A friend works as an assistant to the local Chick Fil A owner and we are going to talk to him about having a fund raiser at their restaurant. Another friend has put me in contact with a t-shirt design company as a possible fundraiser.
Other fundraising ideas we are considering:
Karla officiating soccer games for a local soccer league
Selling clothes in a local consignment sale
Delivering pizza (I did this in college, but gas was much cheaper then!)
Babysitting one Friday a month for parents to have a date night
Renting out our other children (they are very cute and all are potty trained!)
My friend, the Chick Fil A assistant, mentioned that she would like to see her boss hire a cleaning company to clean the restaurant on Sundays and I told my husband that might be something I can do on Sunday evenings. Thinking seriously about this one...
Any other ideas you can think of?
