We have had an incredibly long day. My mother in law is hanging in there. It seems she goes from deep dispair to "bring it on, I'm ready to fight" on an hourly basis. Understandable. Tonight she seems to be in good spirits. The doctors are urging her to fight to recover from the surgery she had, as that has to be done before anything can be done to fight the cancer.
We also learned today that our travel dates have been changed. We now will leave on the 17th or 18th and return around May 5. The reasons given were vague and it is causing a headache in terms of switching childcare and such. But it gives us more time to get my mother in law settled in the rehab hospital and the trip will be a few days shorter than the original itinerary.
One disappointment is that I have a cleaning service coming this Thursday. I was looking forward to coming home to a clean house after our trip, but with them coming this week, we will have two more weeks to demolish the cleaning before we leave! They did not have any openings for the day before we leave. Oh well. I will let someone clean my house anytime :)
And in case you haven't done it before, buy travel insurance when booking your next expensive flights. We were able to make a claim on the insurance due to mother in law getting ill and the travel insurance company is covering our change fees on the new flights. Every little bit helps.
