Here are some FAQs and their answers...
- How long does the flight take? Travel time is right at 24 hours. We leave here at 4:20 pm and arrive at 3:20 am TWO days later. Two days later b/c of the time difference. On the way home, we leave at 5:15 am on May 1 and land at 10:35 pm on May 1. Haha, lose two days going and get them back when you come home!
- Are you taking your children? No. We don't feel like they would do well on a trip like this and to add them to the travel itinerary would easily add $10,000 to the tab. There are many adoption programs that are "family" friendly, this one is not.
- Will you be bringing Asa home on this trip? No. The adoption process requires a 10 day bonding period with both parents and the child. After that is complete we can submit paperwork to the court requesting a court date. We will come home and wait for our court date, go back for court and then come back home. After a 30 day waiting period, the court decree becomes final and THEN we can go get him! It is a long process, but it is the END of this crazy 3.5 year journey!
- How old is Asa? Asa turned 4 last month. We first held him when he was 5 months old.
- Are your other children excited? Yes! For as long as my boys can remember, they have been praying and waiting for their brother Asa to come home. The boys were 1 and 4 when we started this journey. Bethany is also excited but she is the one who gets most upset when we travel, so her feelings are mixed with sadness at missing Mom and Dad. Ezra has no clue what is about to hit him!
