Four years ago...

Four years ago this weekend we received a referral for a beautiful five month old baby boy.
Two and a half weeks later we traveled to Kyrgyzstan to meet him. This photo was from that visit.

We should have had him home about 7 weeks later.  Our dossier needed one more signature and our adoption would have been processed.  The ministry stopped signing dossiers about two weeks after we came home.  The couple that we traveled with brought their child home about two months after that trip.

Oh it is maddening to know how much he has missed in these four years.  It is heartbreaking to see him limp and hobble, knowing that if he had been with us, we have had his hip fixed long ago.  And to see the dental work he might not have needed if he had been home with us. And, all of the other things that we have yet to discover and might not have had to face if he had been home...

We are heartbroken.  But we must trust.  God is sovereign.  And He knows all of those things.  And we must live in faith that He will give us grace as we try to shepherd and parent Asa through the consequences of this long wait to get him home.
