Wow! We have survived being parents of five children! So far, anyway!
We found out yesterday that Asa's giardia test came back negative! Yeah! His TB test also looks good. His language is coming along, every day I hear one or two new English words come out of his mouth. The word today: Yucky! As in, "Et ta Yucky!" (that is yucky!) Half English and half Russian! He still speaks mostly in Russian and still expects that we understand him.
We spent the morning at the park, came home for lunch, took Ezra and Judah to speech and then we all went swimming!
Asa was amazing! Josiah jumped in and swam underwater. Asa thought, "Okay, that's how you do it" and down he went! He came up sputtering, but it did not deter him and he had a blast jumping and splashing and going down the frog slide about a million times.
I was so proud of him, no temper tantrum when it was time to sit out for the lifeguard break and then when it was time to leave. He did great!
We are still having some jealousy issues with he and Ezra. Mostly about who goes first when I am helping them both do something, or when they both want a particular toy. Asa still snatches things from Ezra, but when I tell him to give it back, he will do so with no tears and usually will find something else to play with. We had some tears tonight over the swim goggles that Ezra had, but soon enough Ezra laid them down and Asa was able to play with them.
Asa loves to eat. He is a somewhat picky eater and is not very willing to try new things. Unless they are chips and french fries. If he likes something, he will eat a lot. If it is new, it is not passing his lips. We will just keep trying though since I do not cook french fries and we do not keep chips at the house on a regular basis. He does like cereal and milk, and really likes drinking milk. I am afraid he and Ezra have the same issue with cow's milk, it seems to cause constipation. I have to limit it with Ezra and I think we'll have to do the same with Asa.
A friend brought over some groceries for a few meals and today I put a roast in the crock pot with some potatoes and carrots. We saw tonight what feeding five hungry children really looks like...there was NO roast left, and very few carrots and potatoes. I told Mike that I was really counting on the meat lasting for two meals, I guess I'll have to rework that game plan!
Next week we will take Asa to see the dentist. His teeth are in really bad shape and I am afraid to hear what all needs to be done. Poor kid :(
