I called the pediatrician's office today and told them that I suspected that Asa had impetigo on his chin. The nurse said to bring him in. Even though we were there only two weeks ago, the nurse weighed him. She told us the weight. He has gained 1.5 lbs in two weeks! He weighs 42 lbs now. He was about 39 lbs at his medical exam in Almaty.
I guess he likes what we've been feeding him.
To compare our two boys:
Asa is 38.5 inches and 42 lb.
Ezra is 38 inches and 26 lb.
Asa is very short for his age, but he is 70th percentile for weight. The doctor is not worried about it right now.
Oh, and his chin. She does not think it is impetigo. She said it looks like a burn. I am not sure when he would have burned himself, and I am very sure he would have tattled on whomever was closest if he had gotten burned. Who knows. She did prescribe some Bactroban ointment which is the same thing that is used to treat impetigo, so whether it is a burn or a case of impetigo, this should clear it up.
