Shots: Round II

I took Asa today for his second round of catch up vaccinations.  He received five shots last time, but we only had to do two today.  But he knew what was coming this time.  Poor kid.  It was a different nurse, so his guard was not up right away.  When we walked into the treatment room even, he was okay.  But when I put him up on the table and pulled his shorts down, he lost it.  He was screaming before she even poked him.  Bless his heart.  He has some lungs and when his feelings are hurt PLUS a little physical pain, he lets out the most blood curdling scream.

A green sucker soon soothed his soul and he was back to his happy self.

Next was Ezra.  Of course, Ezra heard the screams and is a little more nervous by nature, so we had to have two nurses hold him down and even then, he almost escaped!  Again, a green sucker dried all the tears.  And two band aids are his badge of honor and he shows them to me regularly and tells me, "Mama, it 'ert!"

I am so thankful for modern medicine.  And I also am thankful that we have access to great care for our kids.  Watching Asa hobble around on his untreated hip reminds me to never take for granted how privileged we are in this country.
