Ezra has stayed in the crib longer than any of the other kids. That is what happens when you are the baby. He is 3 years and 4 months old. He has been sleeping with the rail down all the way and climbing in and out on his own for over a year now. I decided that I was ready to make the move to his new toddler bed and wanted to get that transition done this week before school starts next week.
Here he is standing next to the disassembled crib. This crib was Bethany's crib and is 13 years old. Ezra is kid number four to use it!
And here he is in his new big boy bed! He is so proud! Tonight at bedtime he ran in and crawled in himself! Usually Mommy (and never Daddy) has to carry him in, put him in the crib and tuck him in. Tonight he didn't even want me to cover him up. I am so glad he was excited!
This toddler bed is exactly like Asa's bed and the whole time we were putting it together, Asa kept asking, "Moya doma?" (My bed?) No buddy, this is Ezra's bed. I am not sure if he was upset about that or not because he just kept asking, "Moya doma?" over and over and over.
I generally don't think toddler beds are necessary and are usually a waste of money since the kid can't stay in them long term, like a twin bed. But since we will eventually be buying another set of bunkbeds for Ezra and Asa, and we just don't have the extra money for that right now, the toddler bed was a nice compromise. And it is super that the two little boys have matching beds! We got one bed as a gift and got the other bed off of Craigslist for $50 including the mattress! Much cheaper than bunk beds!
